HAMMOND, William Henry

William Henry Hammond, 70, died Saturday morning at his home in Yeddo. Death was due to a heart attack.

  Mr. Hammond was born in Springville, Ind., April 20, 1879, the son of William and Elizabeth Pierce Hammond. Sept. 24, 1899 he was married to Vesta Sarah Save. Mr. Hammond worked on the CE&L Railroad for a number of years and for the past year had operated a grocery store in Yeddo.

  He is survived by the wife, Vesta; a daughter, Mrs. Gale Rutland of Nashville, Tenn.; a son, Carroll, of Potomac, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Stevenson, of Springville; and five grandchildren. A son, Milly, and a brother, Walter, preceded him in death.

  Funeral services were held Monday at one o’clock at the Woodrow Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph Dearmin officiating. Interment was at Atherton cemetery near Danville, Ill. – S&E
